  • "I was bowled over by the elegant style and unerring facility of Grace Anderson. The middle Andante movement was especially satisfying as it alternated long solo singing lines with beautifully-sculpted conversations among the four soloists." (On Anderson's performance as soloist in Haydn's Sinfonia Concertante with the Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle at the Carolina Theater in Durham, North Carolina).

A Cello That Speaks

  • Grace Lin Anderson proved that in virtuoso hands, the cello becomes an instrument capable of transmitting the deepest feelings, its sound equals in expressiveness the most beautiful human voice, as the renowned Taiwanese-American cellist offered two memorable concerts and weeks of intensive training at UNSA, leaving an indelible mark on Arequipa's musical community.

She performed the celebrated Cello Concerto by Antonín Dvořák. The evening was a resounding success: the audience filled the hall and gave the soloist a standing ovation, who offered as an encore the Prelude from Suite No. 3 for solo cello by Johann Sebastian Bach, in an interpretation that deeply touched the attendees.

Days later, Lin Anderson returned to the Arequipa stages. . . this time she performed the Variations on a Rococo Theme by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, dazzling with her refined technique and musical expressiveness.

With her virtuosity, sensitivity, and generosity, Grace Lin Anderson not only offered masterful interpretations, but also planted inspiration and hope in the new generation of musicians from Arequipa.
